Mobile Opera will present Carlisle Floyd’s opera Susannah on March 26 & 28, 2009 in the Mobile Civic Center Theater. The curtain is at 7:30 pm for both nights. Plans are underway for the Sixth Annual Shrimp Cook-off set for Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Bienville Square. The Shrimp Cook-off, Volunteer Mobile’s major fundraiser of the year, has become a perfect way for seafood lovers to come together and enjoy Mobile’s fresh gulf shrimp. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is expected to attract more than 1500 visitors. Shrimp Cook-off teams are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. Professional and amateur divisions will be judged on categories ranging from team themes to the best all-around shrimp dish. Tickets go on sale mid-March.
